
Portugal and
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo had been named the World's Best
Footballer for 2016 after he defeating Lionel Messi to grab the Ballon
D'or award for the fourth time in his exceptionally renowned career.
The award
crowns such a persevering year for the Madeira native who helped Real
Madrid win the UEFA Champions League title and also helped his country,
Portugal, to win a memorable EURO 2016 cup, regardless of the huge odd
against them
The striker
topped the poll of 173 journalists worldwide to bring home France
Football magazine's pined for award on Monday night held in Paris,
France.
Ronaldo was not
present in Paris to receive the award because of the club World Cup
which Real Madrid is right now participating in, in Japan.
Messi ranked secord in the award while Antonie Griezmann of France/Atletico Madrid came third.
FIFA will hold its own award 'the Best' award in January and Ronaldo is most likely to win that award.
